Dr. Ashraf Elmokadem is a Professor of Architecture and Urban planning in the Faculty of Engineering - Portsaid University, Portsaid, Egypt. He obtained his bachelors degree from the Architecture Department, Faculty of Fine Arts, Helwan University in Cairo, Egypt in 1982 and received his Masters degree from the same University in 1988. He later obtained his Ph.D. from the Technical University Stuttgart, Faculty of Architecture and Town planning, “Institut für Baustoff Lehre, Bauphysik, Technischen Ausbau und Entwerfen , Stuttgart, Deutschland" in 1997. His Ph.D. dissertation is about the colonial architecture of historical housing and commercial quarter „Wasat al-balad“, Cairo: TOWN PLANING RECOMMENDATIONS AND ARCHITECTURAL REFERENCES FOR ADAPTING THE HISTORICAL BUILDINGS ON THE DESIRE OF THE PRESENT TIME/ Case study „QASR AL-NIL“-STREET.

Elmokadem was Headmaster of Architectural and Urban Planning Department, Faculty of Engineering, Port Said University from 2010 to 2020. From 2007 until this day Dr. Ashraf is the Head of the Committee of the National Organization for Urban Harmony (North Sinai) and a member of the committee of the National Organization for Urban Harmony (Port-Said).
